Web Design Trends 2026: What Works in the Market

Bento grids, motion, AI personalisation, and dark mode – discover what’s in and what’s out for web design in 2026.

Major Web Design Trends for 2026

    1. Bento-grid layout The "bento box" style popularised by Apple – sections divided into boxes of varying sizes. It works exceptionally well for showcasing offers and services.

    2. Motion and micro-interactions Subtle animation (Framer Motion, GSAP) makes a page feel alive. But beware – overdoing it slows down the site and irritates the user.

    3. Dark mode as standard No longer just a "nice-to-have", but an expected option. 81% of users prefer dark mode when it is available.

    4. AI-personalised content Content that adapts according to the user's industry, location, and past behaviour. Still rare, but growing.

    5. Brutalism 2.0 Large fonts, bold colours, and asymmetry. A counter-reaction to years of "Inter + white background + purple gradient" homogeneity.

    6. Variable fonts A single font file containing all weights and styles. It saves loading time and enables creative animations.

    7. 3D and Spline 3D objects running directly in the browser (Three.js, Spline) are becoming commonplace in hero sections.

    What is out?

    • Stock photos of smiling people
    • Standard Bootstrap cards
    • Purple-pink gradients
    • The "Hero + 3 feature boxes + testimonials" template
    • Carousel sliders (users ignore them)

    Local Specifics

In the local market, the following will still work in 2026: - Clear, honest language (instead of "innovative solutions") - Prices displayed prominently - E-invoices and local bank links (rather than just Stripe) - Real local people and contact info, not stock photos

    Summary

Trends are tools, not goals. Good design serves the user – if a Bento-grid helps convey your message, use it. If not, don't do it just because it's "in".
